Waxing
What is waxing?
Waxing is a hair removal method in which a resin-based product is applied to the treatment area and large amounts of hair are removed at once. The hair is removed from the root so it does not grow back for two to six weeks.
How does waxing work?
With waxing the hair becomes entrenched and when the wax is removed so is the hair. The hair is removed all the way down to the root, which means the hair does not grow back for several weeks.
What are the benefits of waxing?
Waxing is a relatively quick way to remove hair. It is not as fast as shaving but it does remove large amounts of hair at once. Another benefit is that the hair free benefit may last you up to six weeks.
Another benefit is that there are at home wax kits so you can try this at home.
What are the drawbacks of waxing?
In order to have a waxing session you have to have at least a quarter inch of hair growth, so you do have to be hairy already. This means that you have to be comfortable enough to get to that level prior to each session.
While some people are lucky and may not need another waxing session for six weeks others need to return after only two weeks. If you have to return to the salon after only two weeks, waxing becomes a very expensive and time consuming way to rid yourself of unwanted hair.
What are some waxing Methods and Techniques?
Warm wax is usually applied with a stick or some other type of applicator. Next, a cloth is placed on top of the wax. After the wax has cooled slightly it is pulled off opposite in the direction that the hair grows out of the skin. This is in a quick motion. The hair comes out from the root.
What are the dangers and side effects of waxing?
Side effects of waxing include redness and irritated skin; increased breakouts and pimples; and fine red bumps. Another side effect is ingrown hairs. This occurs when the wax does not remove the entire hair follicle.
Other side effects include bruising, skin color changes, pain and burned skin. If you have any serious side effects you should really consider switching to another hair removal method.
What are some common treatment areas and areas that cannot be treated?
Common areas to have waxed include the upper lip, chin, face, under arms, chest, shoulders, bikini zone, legs and arms. The only place you cannot wax that has hair is inside your nose and ear.
